Home and Food Reads | Sarah M. Dorsey & Smitten Kitchen

I'm still on vacation this week but will be sharing a favorite home and favorite food blog with you each day this week.  I hope you find someone new and fabulous to follow along with in this vast blogosphere!

My first home pick for you is Sarah M. Dorsey Designs.  Sarah is incredibly talented and has had projects featured all over the place, including Design Sponge, Apartment Therapy, and Curbly.  I can't remember if I found her blog or she found mine first but I do know that I instantly loved her do-it-yourself spirit, colorful decorating style, and incredible knack for transforming ugly into gorgeous.

Here are a couple of my favorite projects of Sarah's:

Both the table and ring pulls were DIY'd.  You won't believe how simple and inexpensive the pulls are!  Click here to read about both.

Sarah made this absolutely gorgeous mirror from glass panes on an old 80's chandelier she picked up for pennies at a Habitat Restore location.  So creative and beautiful.  Read about it here!

The thing I find so special about Sarah's work is that it always looks luxe.  She really takes her time and brings so much creativity to the table that her DIY projects never really look like DIY projects.  They look high-end and always lovely.  I hope you'll stop by and check out all of her other amazing work.

My food read for you today is one I kind of doubt you haven't heard of.  It is at once hilarious and delicious and on the outside chance you have not heard of Deb from Smitten Kitchen, do yourself a big favor and hop on over to check out the witty writing and delicious food.  Her first cookbook was published just a few months ago and, no surprise, has been wildly popular.

I made this bacon and corn hash over the summer and many, many times since.  So good.  So, so good.

Just this month this wonderful looking lentil soup with sausage and chard popped up, and while I haven't tried it yet, you can bet I'll be giving it a whirl soon.

winter, bring it on

Deb has this very familiar, conversational way of writing, plus she's laugh-out-loud hilarious sometimes, and I always find her posts such fun to read.  And the big bonus is the woman can COOK.  Her recipes are varied and delicious and I always look forward to new posts.

I'll be back tomorrow with two more favorites for you.  In the meantime, hope you're all having a good start to the week!
