Four Favorites Friday

by Jennifer

I took a little break from Four Favorites Friday last week to share my family room makeover with you, but I’m back this week with a new collection of my favorites in home, food, and fashion. Except this week I don’t have a food pick for you. In typical fashion, a project has snowballed around here and it’s left me without an oven or a stovetop so we have been making due with a toaster oven and microwave for meals this week. Stay tuned for details on where these kitchen changes are headed… But I’m not doing much cooking or looking for food inspiration right now. Thank goodness for BLT’s – we all love them and I can make them with just a toaster oven!

Now away we go with the week’s best!

How fun are these earrings? I love that with the myriad of colors you could match any one of the gemstones to a color in your clothes and still not look like you were being matchy-matchy. And they would be GREAT with all black or any solid color. The perfect fun touch to take an outfit from blah to wow! Plus they’re 50% off right now, so a mere $20. Even better.

So instead of food this week, I give you laughter. This will perhaps be funniest for bloggers who are constantly being talked to in terms of “their brand,” but even for non-bloggers, I just think Stephen Colbert is one funny, funny guy. Thanks to Gwen for sending this my way :)

I’ve got a little fabric crush for you this week. I just came across this upholstery weight animal print fabric that is just the perfect blend of animal print and abstract spots to me. I’ve got four yards on the way and am pretty excited to turn it into something for my dining room…stay tuned :)

Ah, the quilted vest. Have you noticed they are everywhere right now? Unless you live somewhere very warm year-round (don’t tell me, I will be jealous), you can work one of these vests into your wardrobe. Perfect as a light outerwear layer, and soon for me I will be wearing this indoors and possibly underneath a big puffy coat outdoors to keep a little warmer during the frigid Boston winter. The vest is marked down from $128 to $49.99 right now with code SALETREAT, and all sizes are currently in stock, so grab one while they last!

I’ll be spending the weekend enjoying some early Halloween festivities with my kids and trying to clean up my garage enough that I can get my car inside again. I’ll also likely be trying to come up with a few meal ideas that can be done with either a Crock Pot, toaster oven, or microwave. Do you have any gems for me? If so, leave me a comment below!

Oh my! That Stephen Colbert clip – I’m not sure how we missed it, because Bryan watches it religiously every evening – so hilarious!

Meet Jen

I'm a design and DIY lover, decorator, modern home-maker, foodie, fashion enthusiast, and jill-of-all-trades when it comes to home improvement. I'm slowly but surely adding classic-contemporary style to my early 90's colonial home one inch at a time and I'm taking you along for the ride.

It's often messy - there are usually project remnants and toys strewn about - but the making of a home isn't always tidy work and I love showing you how you can make and style and organize your way to a home and a life you love!
