Spring Decorating – Living Room and Guest Room

by Jennifer

Hi friends! We’ve still got some substantial snow cover here in New England but I’m keeping the spring decorating rolling right along indoors. If you missed last week, I shared how my entryway and family room are decorated for spring, and today I’m showing you my living room and guest room as part of another group of spring tours. I don’t do really heavy spring decorating, mostly just clearing out the last of the wintery accents and brightening things up a bit. You can find the full list of everyone sharing their homes this week at the end of this post. If you’re joining me today from Setting For Four, hello and welcome! I had the chance to meet Heather in person in the fall and I’m happy to say that she is just as lovely as her home.

The living room is actually looking a little different than the last time I shared it, thanks to my recent family room makeover that resulted in some furniture shuffling. I moved my favorite spool chairs into the living room and once I started moving one thing we had a little If You Give a Mouse a Cookie situation and all kinds of things started moving, including the pair of cathedral mirrors I’ve had in the living room for a couple years now. They live in the entryway now and I shifted the feather wall hanging I made into the living room above the spool chairs.

Spring decorating ideas in a classic living room with neutral base pieces and a variety of blue accents.

I’m really feeling various shades of blue and neutrals this year and you can see that this room has both. I’m going to go ahead and call that mustardy gold vintage chair with the blush pink pillow a neutral in this situation, by the way. The living room still has a way to go until it’s complete but I’m adding permanent pieces to it slowly and the look right now is totally saying spring to me. I have a source list with items you see in the room or similar at the end of this post.

Spring mantle idea - aqua recycled glass vases, vintage brass tulip candlesticks, and a handmade wooden bead strand.

Blue and white pottery planter

Moving up to the guest room, I can’t say it looks wildly different than when I finished the makeover of this room, but I did change things up a bit for Christmas and winter so I’ve brought the guest room back to its lighter spring and summer self now. I did add some tassel-trimmed white drapes that I just love and felt like a bit of spring decorating in here, even though they’ll stay permanently. You can find a source list for this room at the end of this post.

Meet Jen

I'm a design and DIY lover, decorator, modern home-maker, foodie, fashion enthusiast, and jill-of-all-trades when it comes to home improvement. I'm slowly but surely adding classic-contemporary style to my early 90's colonial home one inch at a time and I'm taking you along for the ride.

It's often messy - there are usually project remnants and toys strewn about - but the making of a home isn't always tidy work and I love showing you how you can make and style and organize your way to a home and a life you love!
